    Fred Perry Man

A name synonymous with the styles and subcultures throughout last century, the Fred Perry brand has come a long way since the development of the very first sweatband by three-time Wimbledon champion Fred Perry and former Australian footballer Tibby Wegner in the late 1940s. In 1952 the first Fred Perry polo came into play and a legend was born.

A classic pique mesh tennis shirt with a short placket and ‘tipped’ collar and cuffs bearing a smokers pipe at the left breast. The Sixties saw the rise of the Mods and Rockers, it was then the brand was adopted by the mods. Fred Perry wasn't just a piece of clothing; it was a uniform worn with pride and passion. Fred was associated with skinheads and during the Seventies saw Northern Soul take over with the youth styling their Fred Perry polos with wide leg trousers.

During the Britpop era, the youth continued to wear the iconic Fred Perry polo with a more casual look, Harrington jackets and parkas became popular outerwear. In today's society Fred Perry is still worn with pride and continues to have a loyal following. Indeed the brand has previously collaborated with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Bella Freud, and Raf Simons and continues to do so with Olympic medallist Bradley Wiggins. Here at Psyche, we aim to bring the latest collections from Fred Perry main line, Fred Perry Authentics and Fred Perry x Bradley Wiggins.
